This outdoor wine and food fiesta returns to the CBD with a big focus on organic and local fare
Taste your way through over 350 wines and nibble on food from seven beloved Singapore chefs.
Wine lovers, get ready for three days of swishing, swirling, sniffing and sipping, all in a pretty outdoor tent overlooking the water. The Straits Wine Company's annual outdoor extravaganza is happening again in October. This year's Wine Fiesta (Oct 20-23) has the theme Rising Roots, and will shine a spotlight on organic and sustainable wine producers from Adelaide Hills in Australia—along with nearly 70 other winemakers.
Once you've tried the sulphur-free, unfiltered, wild-yeast heavy wines from the likes of Lucy Margaux, Commune of Buttons and Francis Hutt, swing by the Wine Circle sessions at Customs House, where winemakers will discuss their lives and businesses. Or sign up for one of the half-dozen masterclasses on wine and food pairing, glassware pointers and more.
Foodwise, things are pretty exciting, too, with local biggies like Dave Pynt from Burnt Ends, wunderkind Rishi Naleendra from Cheek by Jowl and Petrina Loh from Morsels serving up original dishes, made with locally sourced ingredients, to pair with the featured wines. And if you can't get enough, grab a ticket to the Winemaker's Table Night on the first night where you can sample a whopping 75 wines paired with food from our local celebrity chefs. Unsurprisingly, prices start at $228 per person.
It's $50 for the general walkabout ticket at Wine Fiesta ($99 if you buy a set of three), which covers the cost of shameless sampling. Bottles for purchase start at a very decent $30. For more info, click here.
