Good news Pokemon-lovers: the wait is almost over. After the launch of Nintendo's smash-hit smartphone game Pokemon Go sent the world into a frenzy early this month, news just in that Thai players will soon be able to join in on the fun—in two months' time. 

 

According to news posted on Reuters and Bangkok Post, True Corporation plans to launch the game in Thailand this September, though no exact date has been given. As the only master licensee to manage the game in the country, the corporation will be working closely with Nintendo to confirm an exact launch date, but promises that the game will be available on all mobile service carriers, with downloads entirely free of charge. 

 

Pokemon Go is an augmented reality smartphone game that allows users to catch Pokemons in real time at real-life places. Since its release, the game has been an instant hit in over 30 countries—although it has been slow in reaching Asia, with the game only launching in Japan today.

 

Thai players got a tiny taste of the game on the day it first launched, leading Facebook and Pantip to explode with screenshots of Magikarps by the Chao Phraya River and Snorlax snoozing in Ladphrao before servers were shut down.
