Late-night bookworms will soon have a place to gather when Bangkok welcomes its first 24-hour library, Bangkok City Library, later this year. 

The four-story 4,950 sq meter library, located in the newly-restored Ratchadamnoen Building on Rachadamnoen Road (near Khok Wua intersection), was apparently inspired by when Bangkok was voted by UNESCO as the World Book Capital back in 2013.

As reported on the government's Happy Reading website, the brand new space promises four floors of pure heaven for readers, including sections on Thai culture, Asian literature, world literature, international children's literature, science reference books, plus a "Hall of Fame" where the best works of Thai literature will be on display. 

On top of that, expect an education center, a film and letters archive, an on-site cafe, computers for searching e-books and, of course, plenty of open-floor reading space. 

While the library will be open for free to the public, membership comes at only B25 a year (B5-15 for children and teens) for those who want to rent out books and receive other member priviledges.
