1,600 pandas to invade Bangkok next month. Here's where to find them.
Brace yourself, Bangkok. The epic art project to raise awareness for panda conservation is coming to town.
In just a couple of weeks, Bangkok is going to welcome some new adorable friends when the 1600 Pandas project makes its way through the city.
Aside from being an amazingly cute photo op, these papier mache figurines are part of a global art project that aims to raise awareness for panda conservation, organized by French artist Paulo Grangeon and WWF Thailand, a non-profit organization that not only helps protect pandas but also other extinct species.
Made out of recycled materials and eco-friendly paint, each individual panda on display represents the shockingly low number of pandas currently left in the wild: 1,600.
The pandas will be making their way through town from Mar 4 onwards, starting at Sanam Luang and moving onto CentralWorld, Chong Nonsi Skywalk, BACC, Lumpini Park and various other spots in town before settling at Central Embassy for its main exhibition running between Mar 24-Apr 10.
In the meantime, here's a look at where the pandas have been so far around the world:
