A new spot to escape the searing heat in the ancient capital.

Cutesy cafes have made it to Ayutthaya, too. Busaba Craft & Design Cafe is run by the same local team who creat design products from Thai loincloth (pah kao mah), with kiosks at Bangkok's Emporium, Siam Paragon and various Central branches.

Situated right opposite the revered Wat Mahathat, the cafe's decor is clean, contemporary and clearly Thai, partly inspired by Chankasem Palace, while the menu also pays its respects to the ancient capital. That means lots of roti saimai and khao mao garnishes that appear in both drinks and cakes.

Highlight items include the signature passion fruit cheesecake, the Cotton Coconut drink, the Frosty Blue Pea Lemonade made from hand-picked butterfly pea leaves and Frosty Chocolate, topped with Ayutthaya's famous sai mai. There's also coffee.

Busaba's "trendy Thai" design products are also available at the cafe.
