A local winner will be chosen to participate a London's Somerset House

We're avid supporters of local photography (many of our covers this year have been by local lensman, obvs) and one of the world's most renowned photography platforms, The Sony World Photography Awards, has just announced that submissions for their 2016 edition are now live. Shutterbugs can log on here to submit their work in any of their five categories: Professional, Open, Youth, National Awards and Student Focus.

The National awards category is your best bet: last year's winner, Jansen Chua Boon Kiat, not only got to showcase his work in London alongside the competition's international reps, he also managed to snag some free equipment to further develop his work. This year's group show will open in April next year at the Somerset House again, so that'll be pretty exciting.
