From organizing traditional Thai dancing workshops (khon) last year, the Art on Location team looks to loosen things up a bit with a workshop that explores improvisational techniques. Specifically the workshop looks to explore viewpoint, which was first developed in the 1980s by post-modern choreographer Mary Overlie. She broke down the issue of time and space into six categories (viewpoints) as a means of aiding movement and gesture for actors and dancers. This technique is included in the course of contemporary theatre at SITI in New York, and the workshop here will be done by its principal performer Stephen Webber. The course runs from Jul 22-28, (10am-12pm), at Srinakarinwirot University Prasarnmit (BTS Asoke) and you can apply now via [email protected]. Admission B7,500.
