Just a solitary fixture in the top two divisions this weekend as the national team continues its preparations for the World Cup Qualification double header against Australia and Oman. Happily enough, that sole fixture takes place in the capital as BEC Tero Sasana host TTM Phichit at the Thephasadin Stadium at 6pm on Saturday. Tero will move back into the top six if they win.
The hiatus in TPL and Division 1 gives us a welcome excuse to look at what’s going on in the Regional League this weekend, That said there are only three Bangkok division games in the capital-proper this weekend. Kasetsart University should strengthen their position at the top when they host Globlex at KU at 4pm, while second-placed North Bangkok College have a difficult-looking game away at Bangkok Christian College at 5pm at Thephasadin Stadium on Sunday. If North Bangkok slip up then Rajvithi can move into second if they get a result away at Assumption Thonburi. The match kicks off tonight at 6pm at The Pac Sports Center on Rama 2 in Samae Dam.
If both Rajvithi and North Bangkok lose then Samut Prakan United could find themselves in second place by the week’s end if they can defeat lowly Kasem Bundit University at the SAT Sports Centre in Bang Phli at 4pm on Saturday. Also at 4pm on Saturday is a Pathum Thani/Nonthaburi clash as Thanyaburi United host Nonthaburi FC, who are just about still in play-off place race but will need to claim all three points at the Queen Sikrit Stadium in Thanyaburi. Elsewhere, Chamchuri United are away at Maptaphut Marine Rayong and Luk Isaan are away at Prachinburi FC. Both matches take place at 4pm on Saturday.
One other match of interest is from the Regional League Central & East Division. Samut Prakan FC host Pathum Thani FC at 4pm on Sunday at the Lat Krabang 54 ground near Suvarnabhumi Airport.
