Thai Port played a TPL match against TTM Phichit in Khlong Toey on Wednesday afternoon. The northerners took an early lead but Port turned things around to eventually run out comfortable 3-1 winners, Scotsman Steven Robb scoring his side’s third goal – his first for the club.

Both TPL representatives in the AFC Cup cruised into the quarter-finals after easy midweek victories. On Tuesday, Muangthong United won their one-off round-of-sixteen match against Lebanon’s Al Ahed. MTU dominated the first half but failed to break the deadlock thanks to some good keeping but they found their shooting boots in the second half though, as four different scorers – Teerasil Dangda and Datsokorn Thonglao among them – gave theTwin Qilins an all-too-easy 4-0 victory.

And Chonburi got revenge for Thailand when they beat Sriwijaya of Indonesia 3-0 on Wednesday evening. ‘Revenge’ because the Indonesians knocked Muangthong out of the Champions League at an early qualifying stage in February. However, Sriwijaya then got knocked out of the Champions Leaguethemselves and have now been dumped out of the AFC Cup thanks to goals from Ney Fabiano, Therdsak Chaiman (pen) and substitute Nattapong Samana.
