It's been a bad couple of weeks for the Football Authority of Thailand as the current elections for the position of president have  descended into farce. Last Friday's general meeting, where the vote on a new president was going to take place was called off at the last minute by current acting FAT president Worawi Makudi who cited problems over club representatives having the correct documents. This is the same Worawi whose second term actually ended back in December and who is currently facing stiff from FAT executive board member Virat Chanpanich over whether he gets to enjoy a third term. A new meeting is promised within 60 days, but if it doesn't happen, for whatever reason, then the FAT could be in breach of FIFA rules. 

This along with recently being thrown out of the Olympic qualifiers, for fielding an ineligible player, would be bad enough, but it comes in the same week that Worawi was named as one of the four FIFA Executives alleged to have asked for incentives to vote for England's unsuccessful 2018 World Cup bid. In Worawi's case, former English FA chairman David Triesman has claimed that the FAT president had requested the television rights for a proposed Thailand v England friendly-subsequently cancelled when the FAT voted elswhere. The investigation is currently ongoing and Worawi has categorically denied any wrongdoing but the accusations really don't help Thai football's image on the world stage.
