Just three TPL matches in the capital this weekend but each is interesting in its own way. On Saturday, Army United host Buriram PEA (True Sport 2). A big crowd is expected at the Army Stadium as PEA will win the title if they can triumph in Din Daeng. The Soldiers as good as secured their TPL status for another year with a 2-0 win over Siam Navy last weekend. Also on Saturday, TOT have another massive relegation six-pointer, and it’s winnable. TTM Phichit, not safe themselves, visit the TOT Stadium in Chaeng Wattana. TOT could put a little daylight between themselves and the drop zone if they can win (True 161). Elsewhere on Saturday, Bangkok Glass are at Sriracha (NBT 11).
On Sunday, BEC Tero Sasana host Chonburi at the Thephasadin Stadium. Tero don’t have much to play for, but Muangthong fans will be hoping that the Fire Dragons can defeat the Sharks as the battle for second place, and an AFC Cup place, intensifies. Muangthong themselves are away at Sisaket (SKTV). A ‘difficult place to go’ as they say. Sisaket is the only side to have beaten PEA this season. Thai Port are away at relegation-haunted Samut Songkhram (T-Sport), and Police United, still in exile at Suphanburi, host Khon Kaen.
The main Division 1 game of interest in the capital is at the Bangmod Stadium on Sunday as Bangkok F.C entertain BBCU (3:30pm). ‘The Bulligans’ are battling relegation and could really do with another three points against the ‘Pink Power’ of BBCU. The latter could be promoted to the TPL if they win and results elsewhere go their way. Samut Prakan Customs and Air Force United are also involved in the relegation dogfight. Customs host Suphanburi at Lad Krabang 54 on Saturday (3:30pm) and AFU are at Chantaburi (3:30pm), also on Saturday.
In the Division 2 play-offs (yes, Korat did win and go up last weekend!) North Bangkok and Kasetsart University bring their unsuccessful campaigns to an end. North Bangkok play Lamphun at Thephasadin on Saturday and Kasetsart make the long long trip to Pattalung (5:00pm, Sunday).
