There was no doubt that it was Muangthong who were the biggest winners this weekend as they moved into second place after a comfortable 3-1 win over struggling TOT. With Chonburi suffering a surprise 1-0 defeat to TTM Phichit and leaders Buriram PEA only managing a 1-1 draw with Pattaya United at the I-Mobile stadium that win sees the Kirins move to just six points of Buriram.
The Thunder Dome will certainly be anxiously looking over their shoulders, a big change considering that it was looking like the title was a done deal before the mid-season break. There was certainly a mixed bag of results for the other Bangkok-based TPL teams this weekend. Bangkok Glass undid all their recent good work when they were defeated by a resurgent Osotspa 1-0 at the Saraburi Stadium, while Insee Police United were held to a 1-1 draw away at SCG Samut Songkhram thanks to a late strike for the home side. Thai Port will be breathing much easier after getting a vital three points winning 1-0 away at Army United. A scrappy game was resolved thanks to a scorching free-kick by Mongkol Namnuad and a penalty save by Port keeper Wanlop Sae-Jiu. The win puts Port up to 7th and sees Army who started the season so brightly drop down to 11th.
With BEC playing at Sriracha tonight the other games this weekend saw Sisaket FC and Chiang Mai share a goalless draw while Siam Navy FC recovered from being one goal down to beat bottom-placed Khon Kaen FC 2-1.
