As 2013 draws nearer and the festivities intensify, here’s a little year-end quiz to see just how well your booze-addled brain can remember the past 12 months.

1. Why is Pheu Thai pushing for a constitutional reform?
a. To enshrine the right to free cable broadcasts of major football tournaments.
b. To give Thailand’s two favorite politicians, Obama and Suu Kyi, the right to run for Prime Minister here.
c. To make Macau the 78th jangwat of the Kingdom of Siam, thereby saving Thaksin huge fees in long distance Skype calls.

2. Why is Abhisit being prosecuted by the DSI?
a. For stripping in his garden to make breast-paintings.
b. For posting messages on Yingluck’s Facebook page signed “Kind, generous, BKK.”
c. For giving direct orders to the Red Bull heir to run over that policeman to boost Ferrari sales.

3. What was the most refreshing new lifestyle trend to emerge in Bangkok in 2012?
a. Talking to your significant other over Instagram, with the intimacy of just your 100,000 followers watching.
b. A sharpened focus on bare bricks, the word “Wine” in your venue’s name and popsanova.
c. Corporate Facebook pages posting pictures of cats.

4. Why is Thailand the sixth happiest nation in the world?
a. Record times spent watching TV + record booze consumption = woohoo!
b. Next door neighbor Singapore is a constant reminder of how being a modern, efficient and affluent nation is actually super boring.
c. Frequent natural disasters, drunk driving fatalities and acts of terrorism have taught us to seize the day.

This being Thailand, you’ve all passed! Congrats. Have a very, very fun New Year’s Eve. Don’t drink and drive. And we’ll keep our 2013 wishes for our next issue on Jan 4, 2013.
