Marrakesh Hua Hin Resort & Spa
The buzz: The Moroccan craze in Thailand hasn’t stopped yet, as the newest Arabian-themed resort just opened last month (Feb 25). Next to a condominium project that shares the same name, and overlooking Hua Hin Beach, the orange buildings of Marrakesh house 76 suites, with four types ranging from a 55-sq-meter Jacuzzi Suite to a 105-sq-meter Celestial Suite that has a sea view and a private alfresco rooftop. Touting a neo-Moroccan interior design, August Design (Maduzi, Centara Mirage) blended modern comfort with Moroccan details, like glittering mosaic tiles, bright colors (brick-orange and indigo-blue) and wood-carved walls.
Food and drinks: Al Humra whips up international dishes by the pool, while its beach bar, Al Janna Beach Bar, is perfect for an afternoon chill-out scene—too bad none of them serves Moroccan food.
Spa and facilities: Hidden behind a sophisticated wood-crafted wall, the Noo Ra Spa has seven treatment rooms—four of which are private with Jacuzzis and steam rooms. The signature treatments include an Indian-style candle and gold-leaf treatment, as well as a red-wine bath. There’s also a kid’s club if you’re bringing your little devils, as well as a fitness center. Free Wi-Fi is available, too.
Good: We love details like the giant Mosque-like foyer and Arabian-style fountains in the lobby as much as the glittering mosaics paved throughout the bath and dressing area in the room. The daybed by the pool, under palm trees, is really relaxing, especially at night. You’ll feel like you’re in a story from One Thousand and One Nights.
Bad: It’s a little sad to see a spacious 100-meter long swimming pool (a lot larger than the hotel’s own pool) from your terrace that you can’t use because it’s exclusive for condominium owners. Also, it’s not cheap, even with the opening rates.
Rates: Introductory rates are from B6,800 for a Jacuzzi Suite to B28,000 for a Celestial Suites. Top Koaysomboon
