24 Hours in Suan Phueng

10am: Feed the sheep

After you have breakfast at your hotel, head over and see those sheep at The Scenery Resort. US$1.40 gets you a bunch of leaves which will quickly cause you to be surrounded by the flock.

1pm: Lunch at Baan Hom Tien

Though people are visiting this cute candle shop to buy colorful scented candles and take photos, Baan Hom Tien also serves good local food you shouldn’t miss. Opt for their highlights like kaeng som pak kood and dok kajorn omelette served in traditional pinto, as well as herbal drinks that come in bamboo glasses.

3pm: Hot spring retreat

You don’t have to go to Japan to experience hot springs. The Suan Phueng hot springs are not well known, but that just means more privacy. Located further down from Scenery Resort on piece of privately-owned land, Bo Klueng Hot Springs offer an opportunity to bathe in 48-56-Celsius-degree mineral water at only US$1.70. If you don’t feel comfortable taking your clothes off in public, there’s a small space for you to dip your feet in for free.

5pm: Afternoon caffeine

On the way back from the hot spring, stop off at Baan Kanom Wan Saphan Cafe for a cup of tea or coffee. The setting is too cute to ignore. Guests can choose to sit in an air-con, high-ceilinged cottage, on a swing under the bridge or up in the tree house. We promise you’ll take lots of photos.

7pm: Feed sheep, eat lamb

Return to the sheep farm at Scenery to try tasty lamb steaks made from fresh lamb (from New Zealand, not the one you just fed) at Honey Scene Restaurant surrounded by the romantic panorama of the farm. If you’re a bit squeamish, order the T-Bone steak, BBQ spare ribs or roasted pork knuckle instead. Then it’s time to go back to your room and enjoy the cool weather with some good wine.
