ZERO Halliburton

The buzz: German label Rimowa has vacated its old digs at Mandarin Gallery to make way for competitor ZERO Halliburton’s first flagship boutique in Southeast Asia. The 75-year-old American luggage brand, previously only available at major departmental stores here, is renowned for its sleek and durable aluminum suitcases built by aircraft engineers.

The vibe: Unapologetically sparse, the modestly-sized boutique doesn’t feel small thanks to its modern-minimalist approach and glossy floor tiles.

The goods: Though you won’t find the complete range, the store stocks its signature aluminum suitcases (which were used to transport moon rocks in NASA’s Apollo 11 mission) alongside selected pieces from its nylon and polycarbonate collections. Most recently launched are the ZR Geo aluminum suitcases (from $1,129), which feature the brand’s iconic double rib design and come with multi-position telescoping handles, TSA lock, wheel-stopper and a fully-lined interior with practical mesh pockets. Choose from silver or black in six different sizes.

Why you’ll be back: Even if you’re a frequent flyer, you can be pretty sure this stuff won’t fall apart in the midst of your globetrotting adventures.
