The buzz: The latest addition to Orchard Central is a hip three-in-one 3,900 sq. ft. space comprising a bar-restaurant, fashion boutique and hair salon—the first of its kind here.
The vibe: Industrial chic with a touch of boho cool, conjured by Japanese designer Teruhiro Yanagihara of Isolation Unit fame. Walls are suitably done up with a raw, unfinished touch. While bar-restaurant Kilo is situated at the left corner of the massive high-ceilinged space, the bulk of its central area is marked by a huge wooden table display from fashion team K.I.N (Know It Nothing), showcasing specially curated threads for both men and women. Go up a small flight of steps (four to be exact), and you’d find hair salon Kizuki+LIM at the back end.
The goods: Kilo’s signature small bites like citrus pork belly ($15) and avocado-wasabi tuna tartare ($18) are must-tries. Grab a Sapporo draft beer ($10) after that while you shop for Americana-inspired attire at the K.I.N corner featuring brands like C. Chauchat (preppy ties, $209 onwards), Deck Towel (linen beach towels, $239 upwards) and Kiel James Patrick (bandanas and accessories, $69 upwards). There is also a limited selection of New Balance kicks ($229) for the fashion forward. Now that you’re sartorially sorted, round out the experience with a fancy new hairdo by one of the funky Japanese stylists at Kizuki+LIM ($50 upwards for a haircut).
Why you’ll be back: This is one of the best new stores in town with a collaborative concept that actually works. After all, three heads are better than one.
