Shoe In
Hot on the heels of other classic footwear brands like Dr. Martens with its recent hip collaborations, the people behind Clarks are also upping the style stakes. Gone is their previously straight-laced approach to fashion—the Spring/ Summer collection is nothing less than fun and, dare I say it, current. OK, so elements of their more tepid and boring range are still available (like the sports shoes), but their casual collection including the collaboration with Brit Laura Ashley—desert boots that come with pastel floral prints—is actually quite refreshing. For the guys, we have even better news for you. For Autumn/Winter 2011, special editions featuring prints by legendary graffiti artist Futura are extremely coveted and will be made available this August—you heard it here first. The Spring/Summer range ($148 upwards) is now on sale at #01-54 HarbourFront Centre, 1 Maritime Square, 6271-8091.
To a Tee
T-shirt fans—take heed. A new range of tees featuring edgy prints has just been released by local labels 9fountains and Hooked Clothing. The former is a month-old online site (www.9fountains.com) which collaborates with young and fresh local talent such as Benjamin Koh and Antigen to produce affordable everyday wear ($35 upwards), while the latter is by design purveyor Alex Koh, whose prints this season feature some very fine skull graphics and renderings—very cool. $60 upwards at Blackmarket, 19 Jalan Pisang, 6296-8512.
Opening
Fans of Uniqlo will be ecstatic to know that two more outlets are confirmed to open at Causeway Point (end Apr) and VivoCity (early May). Time for you high street hardcores to save up for more reliable T-shirts, pants and other staples already.
