We're hardly short on good coffee and waffles in this town, but there's sure to be a flurry of excitment over the arrival of Korean coffee place Caffebene and its airy 1,400 sq ft, 60-seater cafe at Harbourfront. Their claim to fame: in-house roasted coffee, Italian gelato and a good mix of waffles and pastry. Apart from the usual espressos, affogatos and smoothies ($6.30-$7.80), Instagrammers will probably want to know about the green tea tower bingsu ($15.90), green tea gelato topped with red beans, almond flakes and macadamia topped with whipped cream; and the coffee bingsu ($15.90) made up of a chunky mix of pecans, toasted almonds and chocolate bits finished with coffee gelato. On the pastry front, you have things like garlic and cheese honey bread ($13.90), the tiramisu waffle ($10.90) and the caramel cinnamon bread ($10.90), an unapologetically thick toast with a dollop of whip cream drizzled over by a honey and cinnamon sauce.
