SINGAPORE RESTAURANT

Bincho at Hua Bee

Housed in the back of a 70 year old Hua Bee Mee Pok store (the one made famous by Eric Khoo's Mee Pok Man), this hidden gem is accessed via a subtly marked door facing the carpark. Raw and gritty, the space features distressed concrete walls, retro blue tiles and edgy copper furnishings. It's all about set menus here (lunch from $25; dinner from $68), each including a variety of small plates — think yakitori like chicken tsukune — cooked over the charcoal grill. To drink, cocktails (aka ͞Japeritifs͟) such as Yuzu Be Alright ($23), a mix of sake, gin, gran classico, lemon, yuzu and mint, arelight and refreshing.
