The buzz: Morton's, the world famous steakhouse from America, is bringing in its signature American fine dining to Shanghai. This is the first outlet in main China. 

The look: Morton's Shanghai chose to open in Lujiazui's new landmark IFC Mall - while many of us are reluctant to hop over to Pudong (especially in the dead cold), what the steakhouse offers is definitely worth a trip across the river. With dark woods, thick carpets and subdued lighting, the interior of this enormous restaurant is an inviting contrast to the bright and modern design of the luxury shopping mall.

With seatings for over 400 guests, Morton's Shanghai is said to be the largest Morton's in the world. There are nine private dining suites styled like elegant lounge rooms (perfect for corporate or family gatherings) and two bigger private rooms offering fine vintage wines and cigars to the more discerned guests. There is also a cocktail bar and an outdoor terrace with a dazzling view of Lujiazui.

The food: Morton's signature Porthouse Steak (625rmb for 650g) and New York Strip Steak (625rmb for 550g) are not to be missed, while the boneless Prime Rib (615rmb for 570g) is only available on Friday and Saturday. There are also a wide range of salads, side dishes and desserts on the menu. 10% service charge will be added to your final bill.

The drinks: Morton’s is renowned for its extensive, award-winning wine list, and its Shanghai outlet offers more than 250 labels from the world’s finest wineries. Martinis and classic cocktails served at the bar are equally enjoyable. Watch out for its MORtini's nights - 38rmb will get you a well-made MORtini with free flow Petite Steak Sandwiches 5-7pm from Monday to Friday.
