While the majority of Phuket’s Turkish restaurants, such as Zula, are concentrated around Patong, Kataturk (www.fb.com/KataChalong) brings the cuisine further south to Chalong Bay.  

Dangling ferns, wood accents and upholstered sofas add a modern vibe to the moody, dimly lit eatery, wherein hearty meat skewers like izgara sis (marinated minced lamb and beef with rice and salad, B220) and beyti kebab (yogurt-marinated beef or lamb wrapped in flatbread, served with buttered rice, B300) are served alongside pide (Turkish flatbread “pizza,” B120-230), indulgently sweet baklava (B150/three pieces) and fresh yogurt with fruit (B90).
