There's no doubt that these are booming times for foodies here, with a slew of notable openings on the dining front, and what is shaping up to be a very busy season for us.
There's no doubt that these are booming times for foodies here, with a slew of notable openings on the dining front, and what is shaping up to be a very busy season for us. We checked out the newish PS. Café at Ash Park (45 Ann Siang Rd., 9797-0648). It’s similar to their other outlets—western classics and those famous truffle fries—though this one is housed in an especially charming old colonial building. Definitely worth a visit.
Wolfgang Puck has finally opened his Singaporean outpost, Cut (#B1-71, Galleria Level, The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, 2 Bayfront Ave., 6688-8517). After months of carnivorous anticipation, the Californian celebrity chef introduced his updated take on the classic steak house less than two weeks ago. Spoil yourself with dishes such as Indian-spiced Kobe beef short ribs and an impressive menu of choice cuts including 300-day grain fed Australian Angus from Rangers Valley.
Another newbie in MBS is Caffé B (#B1-15/#01-83, The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, 2 Bayfront Ave., 6887-3311), an Italian restaurant-bar with a light Japanese touch. Just across the water, month old Sabai Fine Thai on the Bay (#01-02 Customs House, 70 Collyer Quay, 6535-3719) joined the rest of the establishments at Customs House to round off the happy handful.
Aside from their newest outlet at Raffles City (#B1-63/64 Raffles City Shopping Centre, 252 North Bridge Rd., 6333-5069), Skinny Pizza (#03-04 Wheelock Place, 501 Orchard Rd., 6235-7823) has also introduced two new additions to their stable of choices; spicy chili and aromatic black pepper lobster (both $24.90). Their take on our national dishes has tasty crustaceans sprawled on a crunchy polenta crust base. We’re looking forward to having a taste, and soon.
