BANGKOK RESTAURANT
Rossini's
This flagship restaurant of the Sheraton Grande is a classic Italian fine-dining experience.
Bangkok will never be short of Italian food and Italian restaurants but Rossini’s, even though opened for over 20 years, still brings in the regulars—as well as new faces keen on their Tuscan villa coziness. Led by Sicilan-born executive chef Gaetano Palumbo who grew up in a fishing town in Agrigento province, known for its traditional Sicilian cuisine, expect fresh ingredients served with minimal preparation
The buzz: Bangkok will never be short of Italian food and Italian restaurants but Rossini’s, even though opened for over 20 years, still brings in the regulars—as well as new faces keen on their Tuscan villa coziness.
The vibe: Themed to resemble a Tuscan villa complete with a gigantic fireplace, wood-beamed ceiling, and large frescos of patrician families, the long-standing Sheraton Grande’s flagship restaurant remains as relevant as ever.
The food: Led by Sicilan-born executive chef Gaetano Palumbo who grew up in a fishing town in Agrigento province, known for its traditional Sicilian cuisine, expect fresh ingredients served with minimal preparation like the Hokkaido scallops, green apple, and sweet peas coulis with late summer flowers (B760). Or there’s the classic that can’t go wrong: Burrata and tomato salad using Sicilian datterini tomatoes, wild arugula, and sprinkled with pistachios (B550). For a main go for the refreshing and light herb-crusted Norwegian salmon served with avocado in yuzu carrot reduction sauce (B1,200).
The drinks: The drink list here is pages and pages long, serving both classic cocktails and wines. They serve wines from several countries around the world, both New World and Old World. For something nice, easy-to-drink, and floral that goes well with the Sicilian food, try the New World Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough, New Zealand.
Why we’d come back: Though this isn’t the cheapest Italian restaurant we’ve been to, the service, the food, and the wine list definitely make it worthwhile. Plan your next family dinner, date night, or anniversary here.
