BANGKOK RESTAURANT

R.E. 234

The guy behind Moose has taken a more polished route with this bar and restaurant.

The guy behind Moose has taken a more polished route with this bar and restaurant. The name refers to the Rattanakosin Era, and the restaurant is themed under the reign of King Rama V, when Western cultural influences really began to spread. This is reflected in the antique-oriented decor and Thai and European dishes like srang wa goong (broiled shrimp salad) and massaman gai through to avocado salad and a variety of pizza. There's also live jazz every Fri-Sat and valet parking.

The guy behind Moose and the sorely missed Cosmic Cafe has taken a more polished route with the King Rama V-themed R.E. 234. The name refers to the Rattanakosin Era, when Western cultural influences really began to spread.

This is reflected in the colonial-inspired decor and Thai and European dishes like srang wa goong (broiled shrimp salad, B280) and massaman gai (B240) through to avocado salad (B220) and a variety of pizza (B240-340),

Desserts include pear scramble with vanilla custard (B140) and prune cake (B160), which you can enjoy with Thai-grown herbal and floral tea (B80-120).

There's also live jazz every Fri-Sat and valet parking.
