BANGKOK RESTAURANT

Mahanakhon Bangkok SkyBar

Dinner with a 100-mile view.

After unveiling the highest observation deck in Bangkok last November, King Power Mahanakhon—currently the tallest building in the country—has now opened its second venue since King Power took over the ambitious project.

Mahanakhon Bangkok SkyBar, located on the building’s 76th and 77th floors, sits just one level below the SkyWalk observation deck, which makes it the highest restaurant and bar in Thailand.

But the venue's height is not the only the only factor pulling in big crowds. The outstanding space, sprawled over two levels and an outdoor terrace, looks like an urban jungle floating atop the city. The interiors of French architect Tristan Auer (Wilson Associates) mix French architectural styles with an elegant touch of Thainess in leather booths, mahogany and warm colors of brick orange and gold—all framed through floor-to-ceiling-windows.

Executive chef Joshua Cameron boasts experience at Eleven Madison Park (no. 1 in the World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2017). He brings together Western and Asian flavors in dishes like the inventive Hokkaido uni panna cotta with ikura and yuzu ponzu (B900), 48-hour Australian short ribs with couscous, grapes and eggplant (B1,200) and kaffir lime cheesecake (B450), accompanied by a wine list of over 100 bottles (from B450/glass for the 2016 Russian Jack NZ Sauvignonn Blanc to B57,400 for a bottle of 2009 French Chateau Angelus Bordeaux). There’s also an extensive list of classic cocktails (B450), all served from a dashing white marble bar.

The restaurant is open for dinner only from 5pm-1am. For reservations, contact mahanakhonskybar@kingpower.com.
