Fried chicken and donuts is now trending.
The people behind the Thai bean-to-bar chocolatier, Malai Chocolate, have just launched Clucking Donut, a new concept dedicated to classic American comfort food—namely fried chicken and donuts.
Alongside Malai’s usual coffee and chocolate drinks (from B50), they will now be serving up Nashville-inspired hot chicken, ranging from BareNaked (simple, no heat) to Shittin’ Fire, a heady mix of habanero chili, Carolina reaper and Trinidad scorpion, among others.
The chicken is brined and doused in a secret recipe that contains over 30 different spices. Go all-American with the Clucking Wings (B220)—crunchy and golden on the outside, piping hot and juicy on the inside—or go wild with the giant and very shareable Clucking Chicken Sandwich (B220).
Try your chicken with their donuts, which are made fresh in-house daily and have a cake-like texture—go for the brown butter and salt or the snozzberry flavor (B70 each), inspired by Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. There’s also Kool Aid (B75) to wash it all down!
While not the most typical combo, this does mark Bangkok’s second dedicated chicken and donut spot—see Brassica in Nanglinchee.
Clucking Donut occupies the same snug, white-tiled space as Malai Chocolate, offering limited counter seating that looks out to the street.
