Café Cha

With its old town location, a sophisticated design courtesy of architect Bill Bensley and an antique collection belonging to one of the owners, Krissada Sukosol Clapp, The Siam already made for an impressive place to visit. Now the newly opened Café Cha offers yet more incentive with its afternoon tea sets (2-6pm, B750 per person or B1,350 for two) which involves liberal servings of scones, brioche rolls and spinach-parmesan quiche. Tea lovers will be glad to see a varied range of leaves, including English Breakfast from Chiang Dow and Jardin Bleu’s green tea mixed with Thai herbs. The afternoon tea can also be enjoyed with 2010 Moet & Chandon Grand Vintage Brut at B1,450 per person/B2,650 for two. There’s more to come, too, with pastries made by Maison Jean Philippe to be available soon. Free shuttle boat from Taksin Pier (see website for schedule).
