BLD Bistro

Sat on the busy Sathorn Road, the newly arrived Mode Sathorn Hotel has just unveiled an on-site restaurant, BLD Bistro. Helmed by French Chef Maillard Christophe, you’ll find a long menu covering breakfast to afternoon tea to dinner with dishes including quiche Lorraine (B250), sole meuniere (pan fried fillet sole, B1,200) and London steak with seabass, tomato and basil (B290).

The buzz: The newly arrived Mode Sathorn Hotel has just unveiled its on-site restaurant, BLD Bistro. Helmed by French Chef Maillard Christophe, you’ll find a long menu covering breakfast to afternoon tea to dinner. Managed by the Siam@Siam Hotel, the restaurant aims to be a casual dining spot, and will soon be joined by a further five outlets, including The Rooftop @38th Bar and contemporary Thai eatery Rice & Chilli.

The décor: Perched above the bustling Sathorn Road, this high-ceilinged, two-floor restaurant sports a large, bright green-tinted window from which to survey the endless flow of traffic. In keeping with the savvy style of the hotel, BLD Bistro sees white seating interspersed with splashes of vivid color.

The food: With a French chef in charge, you can expect some classic French dishes like sole meuniere (pan fried sole fillet, B1,200), Brittany crepe (B140) and quiche Lorraine (B250). Otherwise, you can expect a standard-hotel menu featuring cold cuts (B450) and cheese (B520), Australian wagyu tenderloin (B950) and spaghetti with seafood in pesto cream sauce (B360).

The drinks: Signature cocktails include the Mango Sticky Rice (vodka, Malibu, mango, coconut cream, B280) and Poker Face (tequila, triple sec, pineapple and lime juice, B250). Wine by the glass starts from B350 and beers are Krombscher Dark, Hoegaarden (B260) and Singha (B200).

The crowds: Business execs in the area and some in-house tourists.
