The buzz: The renovated corner of Siam Square on Henri Dunant just saw the opening of this small Korean restaurant, Dak Galbi. They focus on their namesake Korean comfort dish, dak galbi (stir-fried marinated chicken with Korean chili pepper sauce), and because of its location and affordable prices, the young crowds are pouring in.

The décor: This small shophouse keeps it simple and lets the food do the talking. You’ll see basic wooden tables equipped with grills and chimney hoods. And with only 10 tables available, it’s no wonder the place stays fairly packed.

The food: Dak Galbi allows you to show off your cooking skills by grilling your own dak galbi, but if that sounds like too much effort, the kitchen is happy to take charge. Everything on the menu comes in big portions. A set of chicken (B275), for example, can easily feed 2-3 people. Sets arrive with all the typical sides, like sweet potato, eringi mushrooms, teokbokki (a snack made from rice cake), leek and cabbage. If this isn’t enough for you, extra items like cheese (B50 yakisoba (B50) or udon noodles (B50) are available. Or try their Korean-style pizza (available only Fri-Wed, B89).

The drinks: Green tea (B39, free refills), flower tea and soda are available, along with Heineken (B80 for a small bottle) and soju (B250 for 360ml).
