BANGKOK BAR
Cocoa XO
This new cognac bar comes with an all-you-can-eat chocolate buffet in the sky.
The buzz: Bangkok is spoiled for choice when it comes to rooftop bars, and this new one is bringing a whole new experience with their chocolate cave made with cognac and rum.
The vibe: Located a floor below Cru Champagne and above Red Sky, you could spend an evening here just moving up and down the stairs hopping between the three skyhigh rooftop bars. The seating areas are placed by the edge and go around almost in a circle, so you’ll be able to take in the view and the breeze from anywhere you sit.
The drinks: The focus here is on cognac, whether in cocktails or chocolate. You’ll be able to find up to 14 labels of this French brandy with prices starting at B420 for a glass of Martell VSOP, up to B9,300 for a 45-ml pour of Remy Martin Louis XIII. All cognac-based cocktails are B590—try the Swift Fix (Martell VSOP, Chartreuse jaune, pineapple cordial, citrus, and soda) for something sparkly. Since the focus here is also about chocolate, you’ll find their chocolate cave—first and only in Thailand—very enjoyable. For B812, you can spend as much time as you’d like from 4pm until midnight eating up to 50 different kinds of chocolate—both with alcohol and without. If a chocolate buffet is too much for you, they also sell by the bite starting at B45. A must-try has to be their dark chocolate soft serve that has booze in it (B220). On top of cognac-based cocktails, they also offer chocolate cocktails. Try the More Than A Tea which mixes white chocolate with orange liqueur, Absolut Mandarin, vanilla syrup, and mango (B450) and tastes just like an orange yogurt smoothie. You can grab some bar snacks (starting at B295 for Crispy French Fries), but don’t go there on an empty stomach.
Why we’d come back: If you’ve had a bad experience eating boozy chocolate in the past, their chocolate cave will change your mind and keep you coming back for more.
