Sindhorn Kempinski Hotel Bangkok

A luxurious hotel with spacious rooms and a thermal spa.

Overview: Pushing above and beyond five-star luxury, the Sindhorn Kempinski hotel features 285 rooms—the smallest of which is an impressive 66 sq-meters—plus one of the city’s most impressive gyms and spas (there’s even a hammam). The building’s striking curved facade is about more than just looks; it is designed to ensure that every room enjoys an abundance of natural light. Inside, sweeping curves offset the post-modern concrete structure, with floral displays softening the masculine black-and-grey aesthetic, while a huge skylight beams natural light down through the atrium and into the lobby.

The rooms: Each room (from B8,800/night) comes with its own lounge area, walk-in closet, complimentary mini bar and balcony overlooking the surrounding green gardens, and a neutral, soft grey color scheme, which is offset by brightly colored cushions that take inspiration from traditional Thai benjarong porcelain. For long stays, opt for the Residence rooms (from B10,600/night), which come with a kitchenette and washing machine.

The facilities: On the 9th floor, the wellness center features a 25-meter salt water pool with sunset views, and a thermal spa with a luxurious hammam, various saunas and a rasul chamber. The sprawling, members-only boutique gym features top-end equipment, a pilates room and a studio cycling room with a party viibe; it is joined by a large and well-equipped 24-hour gym that is open to hotel guests.

Food and drink: Enjoy afternoon tea and all-day international bites in the lobby’s Flourish restaurant, head to Loukjann by Saneh Jaan for authentic and surprisingly affordable Thai cuisine in partnership with the nearby Michelin-starred Saneh Jaan, then head to Firefly Bar on the ground floor for live jazz, whiskey and cigars.
