The buzz: Bangkok’s craft beer stronghold, Wishbeer, has opened another location, this time expanding across the river to the Charoen Nakhon community mall, Vue.

The decor: Inside, high ceilings, rusted corrugated iron sheeting and concrete blocks contribute to an industrial, warehouse vibe, with a large glass door that lets in plenty of natural light before sunset. All-in-all, this place gives off the feel of a laid-back restaurant with an off-the-charts beer menu, rather than a straight-up bar. Grab a stool in front of the long line of taps to discuss what’s on offer with the bartender.

The food: The menu ranges from snack-sized drinking-food like truffle fries (B180), which come with a dangerously moreish truffle mayo, or goong chae nam pla (spicy raw shrimp salad, B180), to larger plates better suited to after-work dinner, like spaghetti aglio e olio (garlic, chili and parmesan pasta, B280), and beef larb (B250).

The drinks: Beer is the order of the day, with two fridges packed full of bottles and 18 rotating taps served in three sizes: 210ml, 455ml and 620ml. The beer selection features everything from the well-known Thai Full Moon Chalawan Pale Ale (B190; B350; B480) to limited special batches like BrewDog Vs Birrificio Italiano (B230; B430; B590), which gives off a hit of Italian coffee—if you’re a caffeine fiend, be sure to try it while it lasts. For the indecisive and the curious, they offer a 6-glass tasting flight for B790 (175ml glass).

The crowd: Office workers who live in the area looking try out new craft beers and have a bite to eat.
