Ministry of Sound
It’s the new year, and we need a spanking new venue to party in. The much anticipated Ministry of Sound (MOS), comprising five different dance rooms spanning 40,000 sq. ft. of space, has already made the cut as one of the best clubbing venues here. Over 40,000 revelers have visited the club since it opened last month. Not just because of the many rooms and music genres to choose from at MOS, or the headlining DJs (including the sensational Darren Emerson, Hed Kandi’s Peyton and Jack McCord) who spun there last month, but also because the quality of music is more than competent. At the main dance floor area, deep progressive house and electroclash music takes charge, as punters lap up the hedonistic lighting and gyrate the night away. The more sophisticated crowd can be seen lounging the night away at Smoove, MOS’s chillout area where executives and creative types are parked at the custom made ball ottomans and hoppers. Buddha Bar favorites and downtempo gems are the main music playlist here. But for those who really want to have fun, head down to 54, which comes replete with disco balls and evergreen disco hits such as Donna Summer’s “I Feel Love” and Madonna’s “Into the Groove” that send dancers into a frenzy. The crowd here is unashamed—and we like it that way. Not to be left out, hip hop and R&B music aficionados can check out the Housexy room, where girls garbed in short, short skirts, and guys in baggy pants can be found. It’s an eclectic mix at MOS, and therein lies its edge.
