CVRVE
Say hi to CVRVE, a premium cocktail lounge located on the front of Shanghai Center (yes, the space formerly occupied by Long Bar). Its name derives from the slightly curvy shape of the venue, and the sleek bar table also assumes the shape of an elegant curve. In a nut shell, CVRVE is sophisticated and chill, a hidden paradise for cocktail lovers.
The bar team is lead by cocktail wizard Pablo Toledo and Cross Yu, one of the most talented homegrown bartenders in Shanghai. The drink menu is a cocktail aficionado’s dream come true, combining both classic recipes and delicious innovations. There is also a list of cocktails created by the management team, including Flame Orange by Cross Yu and The Oxford by Marcus Treamer. All of the glassware and bartending tools were bought from Japan, such as silver Mint Julep glasses and golden shakers.
Despite its luxurious setting, the drinks at CVRVE are surprisingly affordable. Depending on the base spirits used, most cocktails come in two prices – 58rmb for house spirits and 88rmb for premium spirits. Try Material Girl, a refreshing combination of vodka, passion fruit, Chardonnay, caramel and basil, or Toledo Gin Sour, which is made of gin, Aperol, egg white, fresh lemon and ginger.
If you are looking for an after-work tipple, the Rush Hour happy hours from Monday to Friday are just perfect for you. A selection of cocktails are available for 38rmb each only from 5pm to 8pm, including the very special CVRVE Bloody Mary with secret homemade sauce and celery foam. Sit by the windows overlooking the every busy Nanjing Xi Lu, or grab a seat at the bar where you will be amazed by the skills of the professional bartenders.
