There is no lack of wine bars opened by wine companies in this city, but the Bubbles Bar is a bit different. Opened by Freixenet, the biggest traditional method sparkling wine producer in the world, it is dedicated to this famous Spanish brand without selling any other wine. Yes, the choices are limited, but it’s well worth a visit thanks to the wine’s quality and great value.

Hidden in the attic of the historic building where El Patio is located, the Bubbles is intimate and fun with slanted ceilings, comfy sofas and wine-themed paintings. There are two small terraces overlooking the quiet street downstairs.

You’ll find all of the popular Freixenet products on the menu, such as Cordon Negro Brut (358rmb) and Carta Nevada Brut (358rmb). The premier Reserva Real (898rmb) is also available. There are also a number of Freixenet inspired cocktails, and the bar is in the good hands of Japanese female bartender Michiko, who worked at el Coctel previously. We like Bubbles Mojito (68rmb), a refreshing concoction of Cordon Nevada Brut, rum, lime, syrup and mint Angostura. – Stella Shu
