A '90s-loving, back-to-basics bar in Thonglor.
The buzz: Hidden away down the dead-end Thonglor soi that’s also home to Black Amber, this intimate bar serves up nostalgic ‘90s-era vibes.
The decor: Brick walls, mirrors, disco balls and neon lights provide the perfect photo backdrop, with moving pictures projected onto a black wall helping to make the place feel even more alive. Further adding to the cinematic experience, you get free bowls of popcorn from the retro popcorn-maker in the corner.
The drinks: The signature cocktails play with the idea of “Pause” (a nice, refreshing mix of gin, Midori, lemon, cucumber, guava, kiwi and aloe vera), “Play” (a spiced-up blend of tequila, absinthe, brandy, lemon and rosemary) and “Fast Forward” (a very boozy combination of lime beer, Midori, Cointreau and a shot of absinthe). Each one costs B320, but get the whole “remote” experience (all three cocktails) and it will only cost B850. Another must-try is the Old Fashioned (B390), which they give a new spin by infusing with vanilla and dried fig flavors instead of the usual sugar. Not into cocktails? Choose from their wide selection of big bottled spirits, with Hendrick’s Gin setting you back B3,000.
The music: Expect serious sing-along gems from the ‘90s: think Backstreet Boys or Spice Girls. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday you can catch the same type of tunes sung live by an acoustic band (starts 8:30pm).
The crowd: As you’d expect given the playlist, men are the odd ones out amid the gangs of Thonglorite party girls in it for a fun get-togethers with friends. Caria Bua-on
