BANGKOK BAR

Eight Days a Week Home Bar

Saphan Kwai’s tucked away new bar is all about Thai craft beer

In Bangkok, there are two types of craft beer bars: those selling the latest high-priced imports, and those aiming to support local brewers. Saphan Kwai’s fantastic Eight Days a Week Home Bar, from the founders of the defunct Head Over Heels, falls within the latter.

Hidden in the parking lot of a business complex off up-and-coming Pradipat Road, the bar sells only Thai craft beer. Think Lookkrung’s coffee strawberry stout (B170 small/B220 large/B270 extra large), Sunrise cider (B180/B230/B290), and Puma’s Something in Common hazy IPA (B210/B260/B340) on draft, and CharmYai’s cinnamon-laced Blushing Wood sour IPA (B180), Mahanakhon’s Paradise Pilsner (B150), and Devanom’s sour mocha mead (B180) in bottles or cans.

Order a beer, get some gap gleam like spicy Sichuan wings (B168/six pcs), and settle in for low-key live music or chats with the friendly owner.
