Ambrosia Bar
The buzz: Previously divided into The Kakao, a chocolate and dessert shop downstairs and Bossa Bar, a loungey jazz club upstairs, the Ambrosia just reopened with a new slant towards dining and drinking. Following cues from Hyde and Seek, the emphasis is on comfort dishes and a bar offering both classic and signature cocktails. But there are reminders of the place’s previous incarnations: from chocolate beer (B240) and homemade chocolate treats to live jazz on weekends.
The décor: The starry feature wall and black leather chairs inside give the air of a more formal restaurant rather than pure bar but the long open air terrace offers a space to chill and enjoy a drink and the view, especially on the Balinese sofas perfect for enjoying a puff on a shisha.
The music: Ranges from chill bossa nova to pop and jazz. Plus live jazz on Fri and Sat nights 8:30-11pm.
The crowd: Some of Bossa’s old following and nearby hotels and serviced apartments mean plenty of drop ins.
The price: Cocktails B220. Whiskey B180-280 (by the glass). Beer B140-700. Wine B750-3200 (by the bottle). Non-alcoholic beverages B60-180.
Why you’ll come back? For the chance to enjoy the flavored shishas, whilst lazing on the comfy sofa beds. Vasachol Quadri
