Well, it’s that time of year again. Everyone’s walking around in a good mood for no reason at all, humming to themselves, holding open doors for each other, helping the elderly across the street, giving money to perfect strangers and generally making Thailand a great place to live. That’s right: Constitution Day is upon us.As the date arrives in our fair city, people are taking to the streets; getting out there and shamelessly celebrating their constitutional rights. Of course, the irony has not been lost on some people that we don’t actually have a constitution. But hey—there’s no need to take things so literally. In the spirit of such rampant merry making, we at BK would like to suggest to you, our fellow citizens of Thailand, a couple of other holidays in the same vein as Constitution Day. See what you think of these events, coming soon to a calendar near you…• Equal Opportunity Day - on this day everyone gathers in Lumpini Park and people switch jobs and homes for a day of sharing and “seeing how the other half lives”• Forgive All Your Credit Card Debt Day – still trying to get the banks behind this one• Honest, Selfless Politician Day• Hub of Hubs Day• Justice For All Day, Especially in Cases of Missing Human Rights Lawyers• No Traffic Day - celebrated in Bangkok only, though Chiang Mai is considering it• Kindness to Assumed (but as yet unproven) Drug Dealers Day• Motorcycles Off the Sidewalk Day• World Cup Champions Day
