Last week, the Thailand News Bureau announced Deputy Democrat Spokesperson Ms. Chitpas Bhirombhakdi (the hot Singha heiress who recently failed in her bid to become an MP) was kickstarting a campaign for everyone to report websites guilty of lese majeste by emailing [email protected]. The United States immediately tweeted their “disappointment” through @kenney5555, claiming that following Obama’s famous rallying cry with the mocking 5555 (pronounced “hahahaha” in Thai) made the president feel like everyone is picking on him.Local social media experts were quick to praise the email handle, though. “It’s a strong message. It shows that censorship laws can be really fun, at least when it’s done by Chitpas,” wrote HottiePancake69, author of leading online marketing blog Socialmediathailand5555.wordpress.com.Chitpas, who had come under fire for handing out Leo Beer calendars featuring scantily clad women to MPs, is famous for her unorthodox communication methods. But some are worried the email might be too tricky to remember. “I’ve been emailing asking for a calendar but she hasn’t gotten back to me yet. I tried with three fives and five fives, but still no answer,” a source close to a Singha Beer tower at CocoWalk complained.ICT officials praised her efforts but showed some surprise at the email she’d chosen. “We already have [email protected], and [email protected]. Why create one more? This proliferation of addresses could confuse users in the long run,” one technician commented. “Oh and she’s really hot,” he added. If you spot lese majeste comments online, or would just like to give Chitpas a shout of support, simply email [email protected]. If you’d like to ask Abhisit why Chitpas gets to be the party’s deputy spokesperson, you can email [email protected]—a boring old email address if we’ve ever seen one.
