Converse Carnival
The Buzz: Converse has long had a place in the hearts of all Bangkokians, ever since we all got our first real (or fake) classic pair as teenagers. Now, after years occupying space in department stores and sports shops, the classic American shoe brand gets its very own store. The most exciting part, aside from the carnival decor, is its stock of very rare hard to find designs.
The Vibe: The red and white banner is the first clue to the carnival theme. Inside, the legendary sneakers, from classic to super-rare finds, are laid out beautifully on shelves designed to look like wooden crates. The walls are adorned with images of funfair rides like carousels and roller coasters. Just to finish off the theme, a large model Ferris wheel stands on one of the shelves, with different collections of trainers replacing the seats.
The Goods: Classic pairs start from B770, but prices go up to B3,800 for some of the designer creations. Or if you really want something unique, why not try a pair of John Varvatos’s Nero for a cool B6,700? They also accept pre-orders for the rare jewel Converse pairs.
Why you’ll be back?: It’s bliss for Bangkok’s sneaker lovers. The shop stands head and shoulders above all the other places offering Converse in Bangkok thanks to its focus on limited edition collections. Narisa Pokunchanan
