Sense, A Rosewood Spa

Indulge in ancient Thai beauty treatments at Rosewood’s sumptuous spa.

The buzz: A luxurious retreat for those seeking peace and tranquility, Rosewood’s signature spa offers sumptuous treatments that draw from ancient Thai beauty rituals, alongside to-die-for skincare services from posh French beauty lines EviDenS de Beaute and Maison Caulieres. At these prices, you can expect to pamper yourself silly.

The decor: While Sense Spa might go in for the same “ancient Thai beauty rituals” and “lost remedies” as nearly all high-end Bangkok wellness joints, they do so without resorting to a neo-Ayutthaya-meets-faux-colonial decorative snooze-fest. Walls sculpted in sand dune-like waves and lavish marble floors rippled in more veins than a bikini competitor set the scene for luxurious treatments. Rattan-inspired patterns mixed with pops of turquoise blue and emerald green add to modern, minimal vibe. In addition to the five treatment rooms, the spa also features an in-house nail bar, hair salon and a lounge to unwind. Ask nicely and they’ll let you use the hotel’s ninth floor pool and sauna, too.

The treatments: Should you opt for the “Extreme 360° Global Anti-Age Ritual” (B6,500), they’ll break out the EviDenS de Beaute, a French-Japanese hybrid brand whose heart-stoppingly expensive serums have the face-lift set going weak at the knees. During the 90-minute Thai massage (B3,800), hands well-practiced at finding just the right spot will cajole you into a jelly-like stupor, while the 90-minute full body herbal scrub (B5,000) will, they say, treat you to the same beauty ritual enjoyed by ladies-in-waiting in the Ayutthaya Court. Nice. Fancy a good massage after a long-haul flight? The Jet Lag massage is B4,500 for a 90-minute session. Manicure and pedicure prices range from B1,500 (for a 45-minute session) to B2,500 (90-minute session where your hands and feet are treated with lush products from Maison Caulieres).
