The buzz: This standalone beauty clinic at Bangkok Mediplex seems to offer a more personalized service than what we’re accustomed to at the big chain places. But while its customers have mostly grown out of acne treatments (although that’s on offer, too), they’re surprisingly young given that The Face’s two bestselling treatments focus on anti-aging: botox and thread lifting.“Today, people are more concerned about their beauty to gain both self-confidence and social acceptance,” says Sawin Horma, a former pilot at Phoenix Airlines who followed his passion for aesthetics and decided to open this clinic instead of flying planes. That might also explain why so many air stewards and hostesses make up his client base.

The décor: The façade, with its French-style windows looking out onto a magnolia, sets the tone for an interior which mixes plain white that says “proper clinic” and classic furniture that says “madame est tres chic.”

The products and treatment: There are three main categories of treatments, whether they are simply for beautification, clearing up skin problems or fighting the ravages of time—they even treat hair (hair repair, price depends on the consultation). Beauty treatments are better suited for customers who don’t have time for proper moisturizing and skin care at home, but would like to be pampered and refreshed after a day out in the city’s pollution or too many late nights out on the town. The solution is to feed essential vitamins back into your skin, such as the Facial Masking (from B1,000). As mentioned earlier, the two preferred anti-aging treatments are thread lifting (price depends on the consultation), where golden threads are injected under the skin and then tightened for a lifting effect; and botox (price depends on the consultation), where a toxin is injected into the facial muscles to paralyze them, thereby reducing expression wrinkles over time.
