BANGKOK VENUE

Christian Louboutin

The buzz: Said to be the most desirable shoe brand in the world, France’s Christian Louboutin has finally opened its first boutique here in Thailand, at Central Embassy. The red-soled stilettos have become a stylish status symbol, adorned with studs, leather, laces, and bejewelled heels, and worn by some of the biggest stars around, like Madonna, Lady Gaga and Jennifer Lopez.

The decor: Louboutin delivers an 18th century neo-classical atmosphere that feels more like someone’s boudoir than a shoe shop. Surrounded by a red-carpeted floor and pale pink walls, the distinctive red soles are discreetly showcased in built-in shelves. Two armchairs with whimsical animal prints stand guard at each side of the wall with an arch opening to a deeper alcove where monochromatic and geometric walls and furniture await.

The products: Louboutin’s spring/summer 2014 collection takes inspiration from the floral paintings of impressionists like Monet and Van Gogh. Bursting with playful pastel hues and alluring bold colors, the collection boasts seductive items such as the Apostrophe, pointed- toe stilettos with sling-back pump, Amazona, braided-leather boots, and Sweet Charity, a classical leather shoulder bag.
