Star Wine List, a worldwide digital wine guide, has recently launched in Bangkok—and it’s not only highlighting the great wines of the city, but the awesome people curating them, too.

The guide, which started in Stockholm in 2017 and covers cities in over 16 countries, is an online directory that lists various types of wine venues, ranging from small natural wine bars to fine dining restaurants. The main criteria is that all these places take their wine seriously.

In every city, top sommeliers and wine personalities are chosen as ambassadors to curate a selection for the coveted list, such as Arvid Rosengren, an award-winning sommelier from Sweden who was pegged to produce the New York guide. For the Bangkok edition, it will be overseen by two of the city’s very own top wine sommeliers: Fred Wohlrabe, the venerable wine guru at Gaa, who we named Somm of the Year in our latest Top Tables Guide, and Denmark native Rasmus Poll, the sommelier for a major retail conglomerate.

The list has no strict criteria or checklist and generally reflects places that both of these somms would recommend to locals and tourists alike. The list is continually updated to match the fast-paced wine industry. Of course, the little details do help in making decisions, like proper temperature control and storage for wines in larger cellars, as well as quality stemware in line with the venue’s offering and, most importantly, a high level of wine knowledge overall.

The Bangkok list currently includes About Eatery, Eat Me, Haoma, La Casa Nostra, Quince and Le Du, to name a few. You can get all the details and more on their website, starwinelist.com.
