Casa Lapin, Koh Samui

Finally, a quality cup of joe by the beach. Located in Fisherman's Village, right by Bophut Beach, Casa Lapin x Samui sticks to the Bangkok cafe's hip, industrial-tinged theme, with bare brick walls accompanied by wooden floorboards for a touch of nautical flair. The cafe and restaurant serves up the same drink menu as the Bangkok branches with a few beachy additions in the form of smoothies, detox juices and some beautiful cocktails. Open from breakfast to dinner, the Samui branch offers a full menu with food items from its Bangkok branch as well as some Southern fare and seafood. Try the seafood platter (B950-2,200), consisting of a handsome selection of lobster, shrimp, oysters and scallops, moo kua kapi (Southern-style pork and shrimp paste, B180) and sashimi tacos (B320).

Whisgars, Koh Samui

Bangkok's favorite cigar lounge has found its way down south. Taking up a spot inside the never-sleeping Beach Republic club on Lamai beach, Whisgars Samui (www.beachrepublic.com/whisgars) offers the same fat-cat-placating mix of premium hand-rolled cigars and high-quality single-malt whiskies as its Bangkok counterparts. And if you've been a regular at WTF Gallery & Cafe for the past couple of years, you may also be served by a familiar face (hey Brian!). Sadly, though, he no longer mixes cocktails. It feels like Phuket's EDM-loving Gulf Coast cousin might finally be growing up.

Peppina, Sriracha

Fresh from announcing it was heading to Bangkok's Old Town with a long-awaited second venue, Sukhumvit Soi 31's much-acclaimed Neapolitian pizza specialist Peppina has quietly also branched out beyond the capital. Set on the third floor of Sriracha's Aeon community mall (165/133 Moo 10, Surasak, Sriracha, 03-831-3228), in the Eastern province of Chonburi, the new venue looks a lot like the original, only larger. It's got the same warm, industrial decor—with the very same floor-to-ceiling windows and hanging lights. The bonus is a giant outdoor patio boasting views of the coastal city. The menu is very much like the original too, centering on the same list of pizzas (some of the best in Bangkok) like the simple (but delicious) Napoletana to the savory-yet-sweet Zucca, prepared in front of you in the restaurant's open kitchen. Open daily from 11am-11pm.

The Service 1921 Restaurant & Bar, Chiang Mai, designed by the team behind Above Eleven

Anantara Chiang Mai Resort recently unveiled a new drinking and dining venue, created by none other than Soho Hospitality, the team behind uber-popular Bangkok establishments CharcoalAbove Eleven and the trending Havana Social. The Service 1921 Restaurant & Bar (chiang-mai.anantara.com) sits in a restored colonial mansion that formerly served as the British Consulate of Chiang Mai. Reimagined as a hidden stronghold of the British government’s secret intelligence service, the venue is filled with fictitious spy paraphernalia, vintage lamps and other artifacts from the days of British teak logging interests up North, alongside colonial-style cabinets, leather armchairs and couches. The kitchen specializes in contemporary Thai, Chinese and Vietnamese dishes, with one highlight being the duck breast salad with green apple, ginger, mint, goat cheese and chili lime dressing (B250). The bar focuses on cocktails with Asian twists, while there's also a separate whiskey and cigar lounge.
