The world’s second tallest structure (after the Burj Khalifa complex in Dubai), the Tokyo Sky Tree, is finally open to the public today (May 22, 2012). Located in Samuida district in the northeast of Tokyo, close to the Asahi Breweries headquarters, the 634-meter-tall tower will mainly be used for digital broadcasting, but visitors can also enjoy sky-high dining and souvenir shopping at the Tembo Deck (350m, ¥2,000-2,500 [B785-980]) and take in a panoramic view of the Japanese capital from the Tembo Gallery (450m, ¥1,000 [B395]). Until Jul 10, tickets to the Tembo Deck are available via online advance purchase from the website only.
