One of Asia’s most popular film festivals returns next month during Oct 6-14. Now in its 16th year, the Busan Film Festival 2011 will show films from around the world, featuring Song Il-gon’s Always as the opening movie and Harada Masato’s Chronicle of My Mother as the finale. Australian films will also be getting their own special focus under the theme Another Face of Australian Cinema, with award-winning documentaries, short films and feature films. Hong Kong director Yonfan is head of the jury while Japanese heartthrob Odarrigi Joe, Thai director Aditya Assarat and Bangkok Post film critic Kong Rithdee will also judge—go Thailand! Also, Michelle Yeoh from The Lady will appear at the gala as the special guest, while our darling Apichatpong Weerasethakul will be there as the keynote speaker at the Busan Cinema Forum.
