After a failure of THAI Tiger project and rumor about a new low cost airline named Thai Wings, THAI Airways finally unveils its actual project of a new “light premium” airline—THAI Smile Air. Scheduled to inaugurate in July 2012, the new airline will fly to domestic and international destinations, including Ubon Ratchathani, Udon Thani, Khon Kaen, Chiang Rai, Surat Thani, India, China and Southeast Asian Countries. THAI Smile Air will sell cheaper tickets at competitive prices to AirAsia but allows seat selection at no cost and 15-20kg baggage allowances, serves food and drinks, and offers mileage as part of Star Alliance—seems to be a tempting package AirAsia can’t beat. Well, let’s wait until the prices released.
